Expansion in Belgium reflects Ukash's growth strategy for 2011
London 19 January 2011: Ukash, the Global eMoney Network,
has significantly increased its footprint in Belgium through online
and physical issuing, demonstrating the company's priority to
strengthen its presence in existing markets and create greater
value for its current consumer base around the world.
Following its launch in Belgium in 2008, Ukash is now available
at an additional 2,500 points of sale across the country and online
using the Bancontact/Mr.Cash system, providing greater access to
consumers who wish to deposit, spend or send cash online.
This deal demonstrates Ukash's increased focus on adjacent markets
and its ambitious plans for growth in 2011.
Consumers in Belgium can now get Ukash from more than 2,500
independent convenience stores and petrol stations across the
country from Trendycash terminals in increments of 10, 20, 50 and
100 Euros. Ukash vouchers are also now available instantly online
from the Prepaid4.me pinshop in values from 10 to 100 Euros. A
simple and secure process, consumers can simply pay for Ukash
vouchers through their own internet banking using
Bancontact/Mr.Cash payment systems.
Ukash's newly appointed Chief Executive Officer, David Hunter,
explained: "Over the last few years Ukash has been focusing on
expanding its geographical footprint. Whilst continuing to do this,
we also want to ensure we optimise our existing core markets; and
this expansion in Belgium is a great example of that. This approach
complements our product focus, as we seek to add ever greater
utility to Ukash, making us the natural choice for anyone wishing
to deposit, spend, or send cash online."
Ukash empowers people worldwide to use cash electronically,
irrespective of status, device or boundary, and is available at
420,000 retail locations. Globally, Ukash is active in more than 50
countries.
