Ukash reports record growth in Germany as sales jump by 400% in 24 months
Ukash, the world's largest prepaid cash-issuing estate, has
announced that its business in Germany has quadrupled in only 24
months. The significant performance in this market reflects the
demand for alternative payment products across the country, which
allows consumers to pay online securely using cash.
Following a number of successful strategic partnerships in Germany
including Lekkerland, Gamigo, Neteller, Gameforge and EasyBuy card,
Ukash is now issued from 20,000 physical locations and is accepted
at thousands of websites.
Since the link-up with MasterCard (news 16/06/09) for the
roll-out of the Repower project, Ukash has rapidly become a
favoured way for people to load cash value to their eWallet or
prepaid card, for shopping online. In the last two years, Ukash has
seen a 26 fold increase in such cash loads in Germany, which has
resulted in the country accounting for nearly one in every five
Ukash transactions online.
The other strong area for Ukash growth in Germany is in the
Telecoms sector where airtime and VoIP credit purchases have grown
250% in the past two years.
Mark Chirnside commented, "Germany was always going to be a
significant market for Ukash but our performance there has outdone
even our most ambitious forecasts. The response from consumers in
the country is proof that such solutions are in great demand, which
we have seen not only in Germany but also in other territories
globally. We will continue to establish new deals in Germany which
will offer consumers an even better service as we look to further
grow our presence there and build on our success to date."
Globally, Ukash is available at more than 320,000 physical
issuing points and spans 30 countries.
