E-tailers adapt websites and e-commerce along with changing consumer habits

The UK is Europe's largest online market with residents averaging 33 hours per month online, according to the Daily Telegraph. And new research shows that consumers are changing their habits and they way they surf the net when it comes to e-commerce.

The first and most prevalent difference in the way consumers are using the internet is that they are changing the way they conduct searches through engines like Google. For instance, searches using the term "luxury gifts" are down by 29 per cent versus last year, while searches for Rolex watches are 33 per cent lower. Searches for the term "designer clothes" are also down by 10 per cent.

On the other hand, shoppers are increasingly searching out bargains and voucher codes online with terms like "voucher codes" and "Topshop vouchers" up over 65 per cent. This is because many items that can be bought online are at reduced prices which are not offered on the high street.

As a result, online retailers have to alter the way they do business online. At a time when people are more cautious with their funds and are spending less time shopping, e-tailers have to adapt their websites to provide easy and seamless shopping experiences with zero hassle.

Changes to online retail sites such as faster online delivery, voucher promotions on the homepage and posting easy-to-find product reviews are just some of the ways e-tailers can adapt their websites to ensure more consumers will be inclined to use them.

Offering consumers an alternative payment method such as Ukash is a way for online retailers to attract the cash market and millions of consumers who don't shop online because they don't have credit cards or are wary of inputting their financial details.

Ukash is a safe way for consumers to make payments online without having to submit private bank details. The secure and unique 19-digit number on the Ukash voucher assures payment when it is presented online at any of our web partners.
