Online consumers in Sweden Get Ukash

20/12/2007

Online consumers in Sweden can now shop, play and pay online with cash as Ukash continues to expand across Europe, making it the most widely available prepaid product for European cash consumers.

Already available in thousands of locations such as convenience stores, newsagents, post offices and petrol stations across the UK, Ireland, Spain, Germany and Netherlands consumers in Sweden can now also get Ukash.

Sweden has broadband penetration of around 97% of the population, well ahead of other European markets, so is well placed to benefit from doing business online. Yet research from Jupiter indicates that over 55% of online payers in Sweden use options like cash-on-delivery and bank transfers as their preferred online payment method, rather than debit or credit cards.

“Ukash is a practical and convenient payment method for those consumers who don’t have cards or have concerns about giving out their financial details online”, comments Ukash CEO Mark Chirnside. “We’re pleased to make Ukash available from thousands of convenient locations right across Sweden”.

Over 3000 terminals operated by payzone can issue Ukash vouchers in values from 100 – 3000 Swedish Krona (SEK). The terminals are located in many Tempo, Euronics, TIME, Nära Dej, El-Giganten, Media Markt, Handlarn, Direkten stores across Sweden, normally wherever mobile phone top-ups are available.

Ukash is now available to an estimated 226 million internet users who don't have or don't wish to use credit or debit cards online, Ukash is free of any charges or fees to the consumer, unlike some other prepaid products. Using Ukash avoids them having to put their financial details on the internet and it's available to everyone; they don't even need a bank account!
