Strategic partnership enables Ukash to tap into 3,700
locations via the payshop network
Leading online payment solution Ukash has announced the next
step in its global expansion after signing a deal with leading
payment service, payshop, to make Ukash available
across Portugal.
The deal will allow customers in Portugal to buy Ukash vouchers
- which will be available in denominations of €10, €20,
€50 and €100 - from more than 3,700
payshop retailers; from supermarkets, to kiosks
and stationers.
payshop is a highly regarded partner for Ukash,
and its national network of agents have been through a rigorous
process to ensure quality of service and data safety. Customers who
wish to shop online using cash can now use Ukash as a convenient,
reputable and financially anonymous payment method for use at a
large variety of lifestyle, shopping, VOIP, gaming and gambling
websites.
Commenting on this partnership Mark Chirnside, chief executive
officer, Ukash said: "This new partnership with
payshop is another important strategic development
for Ukash, which has provided an established route to market.
payshop has an impressive track record and
physical presence within Portugal. Bringing Ukash to Portugal will
allow the growing number of consumers there who wish to shop online
to do so safely and will also allow those without credit and debit
cards, the 'unbanked', to engage with and enjoy the growth of
internet shopping."
Helena Rodrigues, chief executive officer,
payshop also commented:
"We believe we are in a unique position to enhance e-commerce by
making available safe and simple payment solutions to the
Portuguese market. We see this partnership with Ukash as an
important step to achieve this strategic goal".
This deal with payshop extends Ukash's existing
presence in the Iberian Peninsula. Ukash can be obtained from over
6,000 Correos (post offices), Telecor and Recarga Express outlets
across Spain and in October 2008 the company signed a deal with
Spanish telecommunications giant Telefónica to make Ukash
vouchers available from all traditional telephone kiosks across
Spain. In addition, in April 2009, Ukash extended its partnership
with Spanish partner Telepay by issuing Ukash online through the
consumer site Cuponesprepago.com, which became the first site in
Spain to offer Ukash vouchers online.
