Alternative payment provider Ukash, which has the largest
prepaid cash-issuing estate in the world, has extended its
footprint in Scandinavia by signing a deal with Spendon, a
Convenient Card AS company, which will make Ukash available in more
than 500 new outlets in Sweden.
Ukash vouchers, which allow consumers to shop online anonymously
using cash, will now be available in over 300 Pressbyran kiosks and
all 200 7Eleven branches found inside Shell petrol stations. Ukash
is available in more than 300,000 physical locations in 26
countries globally and has an existing presence in Sweden, with
more than 2,000 points of purchase. Consumers exchange their cash
for Ukash vouchers - which are available in 100, 250, 500 or 1500
SEK values - and receive a unique 19 digit Ukash PIN which can be
spent instantly at thousands of online stores.
The Ukash solution is growing in popularity as consumers wish to
pay online securely and anonymously using cash, instead of having
to use credit or debit cards. Ukash allows consumers to pay without
inputting their financial details online, reducing the risk of card
fraud and identity theft.
Mark Chirnside, chief executive officer, Ukash said: "This deal
with Spendon is another significant extension for Ukash and will
enable more consumers in Sweden to access our vouchers as the
demand for our innovative payment solution continues to rise. We
have an existing presence in Sweden and it is a market that is
showing good growth, so by adding a further 500 physical outlets to
our issuing network we expect to see a further upsurge in activity.
Our strategic global expansion is continuing and we anticipate
further activity in Scandinavia in the coming months."
